RESEARCH TOPICS

PHOTO-INDUCED OXIDATIVE PHENOMENA AND MEMBRANE STABILITY

My research activities are developed in the Biophotonic team of the Laboratory Jean Perrin (CNRS UMR 8237) at Pierre and Marie Curie University. These activities are interested, under physical approaches, in the optical properties of biological systems. Our team works not only on the study and the characterization of biologically photo-active compounds but also on the apparatuses and methods by which such studies become possible.

My personal interests relate to the comprehension of the cellular behaviour of the molecules in relation with:

  • their behaviour in the intracellular traffic,
  • their physical and physicochemical properties,
  • the properties of biological membranes and their possible photo-modulation.

Key words - Membrane-molecules interactions. Amphiphilic dyes transport through membranes. Photosensitized damage in biophysical systems. Photodynamic treatment of cancer cells.

  • Optical spectroscopies, fast kinetics,
  • Fluorescence microscopy,
  • Analysis and data-processing simulation of dynamic systems in solution, with MathCad,
  • Biophysical and biochemical methods (ligand-receptor interaction, Scatchard, kinetics, enzymology, membrane permeability, solubility…).
